we are all in….
now what?

CTHS VB Player/Parent/Guardian Expectations
how can we support the ctvb culture?
Allow your child to solve her own problems; this will enhance your child’s ability to do this as an adult. Encourage your child to be proactive, responsible, and accountable. Hold your child responsible for their actions and decisions.
Please refrain from speaking negatively about the coaching staff because they will still be your daughter’s coaches regardless of your opinion about them. Refrain from speaking negatively about other players; nothing destroys team unity worse than gossip that will certainly spread and get back to the player. Imagine how you would feel and react if another parent was criticizing your daughter.
Cheer loudly and enthusiastically FOR CT teams during matches; refrain from yelling negatively and trying to coach from the stands; this often causes internal conflict, frustration, and confusion on the part of the student-athletes.
Respect officials and their decisions; yelling at them will not only hurt our team but will also reduce the number of individuals who want to officiate. Any person in the crowd that can not follow this expectation may be asked to leave the gym.
Wins are AMAZING - and we want them, however wins are not our sole focus. Remember the real-life values, relationships and skills that will come from your daughter’s participation in an extracurricular activity.
Ultimately, we are asking our program families to behave in a manner that represents the high standards of Cherokee Trail High School and the Cougar volleyball program; as a parent wearing CTHS gear, you are a reflection of our program, so please represent us positively and be a role model for your athlete and their peers who will also be in the stands supporting.
