Amber Cornett
Head Varsity Coach
With a passion for shaping aspiring athletes into formidable competitors, Coach Amber Cornett brings nearly 20 years of experience and expertise to the Cougar volleyball coaching arena. Armed with a deep understanding of the game honed through years of playing at the high school, club and collegiate levels, Coach Cornett is dedicated to cultivating a culture of competitive excellence and community within her teams.
Coach Cornett's coaching journey began when she joined the volleyball staff at her high school alma mater, learning from a National High School Hall of Famer and one of the winningest coaches in South Carolina history. Coach Cornett continued her coaching resume by serving as an Elite Team coach and Director of Coaching for Club South Volleyball (currently Upward Stars). She went on to be named the Head Volleyball Coach at Augusta State University and was the director of her local Junior Olympic Volleyball Club.
Coach Cornett is thrilled to be rejoining the coaching arena. She believes her experience as an adolescent therapist adds a unique dimension to her philosophy and practices.
Coach Cornett lives in the Cherokee Trail community with her husband, David; their three sons, Forrest (a CT student-athlete), Grey and Torin, and their dog Chase. She loves all things outdoor, traveling, sushi and the COUGAR NATION! She cannot wait to get to work and is honored to be offered the opportunity to lead this program.

Lindsay Witte
Assistant Varsity Coach
Lindsay has been a teacher and coach for over 17 years. She is originally from Minnesota where she attended High School, College (University of Wisconsin Eau Claire - Kinesiology), Graduate School (University of St. Thomas - Education), and began her career as a Health & PE teacher and coach. Lindsay played volleyball in high school as a middle blocker and in college as an outside and right side player. She has a passion for health and fitness and enjoys sharing that with her students and athletes. Lindsay has coached several sports including both high school and club volleyball for over ten years, as well as strength and conditioning, track and field, and girls lacrosse. She also taught group fitness classes at Lifetime Fitness for over fifteen years and was a certified personal trainer. Lindsay is looking forward to being back in the gym with her favorite sport!

Head Junior Varsity Coach
Abe was born and raised in Hawai’i, where he enjoyed family gatherings at the beach, surfing, fishing, and playing lots of sports. Volleyball is huge in Hawai’i. The University of Hawai’i at Manoa Mens Volleyball team are back-to-back NCAA Division 1 Champs. UH has a great opportunity to defend their titles and three-peat this season as the #2 seed. Abe attended UH Manoa where he received his BA Psychology degree. He played a ton of volleyball in Hawai’i, both indoor club and outdoor. In 2005, Abe's wife (Myla) and he moved to Colorado. They started a family in 2007 which has grown since then. Chase is 15 (plays volleyball at CT and at Elevation Volleyball Club) and Mikaela is 12 (plays volleyball at Elevation Volleyball Club). They also have 3 puppies (Rio, Karanna, and Peanut) and 2 cats (Max and Makana). Coaching the CT volleyball team has been a blast thus far. When Abe is not coaching, he enjoys spending time with his family. He is excited to start the season and looks forward to meeting everyone. Let’s go Cougars!!

Lexi hurtado
head sophomore coach
Lexi has been passionately immersed in the game of volleyball since she was six years old. Her volleyball journey began at a very young age, where she honed her skills and developed a deep love for the sport. Lexi played all four years of volleyball at Rangeview High School, and her talent was undeniable. She was named the East Metro Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player her junior and senior year, earned First Team All-Conference honors three times, along with Highest Academic Honors all four years.
Following her successful high school career, Lexi committed to Florida Southwestern State College for her freshman year. She then transferred to Chadron State College, where she played for four seasons and completed her eligibility this past fall. Throughout her collegiate career, Lexi excelled as a six-rotation outside hitter. Her hard work and dedication earned her RMAC All-Conference honors multiple times.
As a coach, Lexi brings her extensive experience and passion for volleyball to younger athletes. She is dedicated to passing down her knowledge and skills, helping players grow, and fostering strong relationships both on and off the court. Lexi's love for the game is evident in her coaching style, as she strives to inspire and guide the next generation of volleyball players.

Head freshman coach
Abby is a dedicated and passionate volleyball coach committed to fostering the growth and development of student-athletes both on and off the court.
Another coach who is a Cherokee Trail Alumni; Abby has been playing volleyball for over 20 years. She has played indoor, grass and sand volleyball. Abby has coached ages 12-18 at all levels. She coached at Regis Jesuit for 4 years and a club team in Kansas City, MO for 2 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge from her coaching and playing experience.
Abby believes in the power of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. She emphasizes the importance of hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship, instilling these values in her players both on and off the court.
Abby has a genuine passion for the game. She is committed to growing with the game and teaching her players along the way. Abby hopes to make an ever lasting impact on Cherokee Trail athletes and she is excited to join the Cougar family!
